Zimbabwe: Mnangagwa tells supporters 'I pledge to be your servant'

Zimbabwe's incoming President Emmerson Mnangagwa delivered his first speech since the resignation of outgoing President Robert Mugabe to supporters outside the Zanu-PF party headquarters in Harare, on Wednesday. Mnangagwa told a raucous and jubilant audience that «I pledge myself to be your servant,» before adding «we want to grow our economy, we want peace in our country, we want jobs.» The... Еще incoming President lauded the efforts of General Chiwenga and the speaker of parliament, and told the audience that the peaceful transition of power «makes SADC [Southern African Development Community] proud.» Mnangagwa's swearing-in ceremony will reportedly take place on Friday. He will serve the remainder of Mugabe's term, prior to elections.
