Embattled Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe was warned to ‘leave the country’ at a press conference in the capital Harare on Friday held by the influential chairman of the war veterans’ association. Christopher Mutsvangwa demand came as tens of thousands of people are expected to take to the streets of Harare on Saturday to call for Mugabe to step down. Mutsvangwa said: “And we will show him... Еще, we as the people — that is the signal that we want to give him and he has got to digest it between now and tomorrow. And he makes an appropriate decision — it's up to him to make an appropriate decision.» Zimbabwe's military seized control of state TV, announcing it had taken temporary control of the country in order to «target criminals» allegedly operating around the head of state earlier this week. Part of the takeover had included the house arrest of the 93-year-old, but on Friday morning the army issued a statement describing “significant progress” as Mugabe was seen in public.
