Yemen: Saudi-backed forces make gains south of Hodaidah

Footage filmed in Al Tuhayta on Thursday shows the Yemeni National Army (YNA), backed by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition, in the outskirts and within the city. A convoy of military vehicles was seen thundering along desert roads, while trucks carrying militants made their way through residential areas. According to reports, the YNA is making advances in several strategic areas in the battle for... Еще the Yemeni port of Hodeidah. Supported by Saudi-led coalition air support, YNA forces reportedly also made gains against pro-Houthi forces in the fronts of Hajjah, Taiz and South Hodeidah. The Saudi-led war in Yemen started in 2015 as an attempt to crush Houthi rebels in the region and reinstall former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. The port of Hodeidah is Yemen's main point of entry for food aid. With 8.4 million Yemeni people forced to the brink of starvation according to UN figures, the country has been plunged into a severe humanitarian crisis amid its ongoing conflict.
