Yemen: Houthis announce attack targeting strategic locations in Saudi Arabia

The military spokesperson for the «Ansaru Allah» group, Houthi Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced in a televised speech on Tuesday, an attack targeting strategic sites in the Saudi core, including the «Ministry of Defense, Military Intelligence and Salman Air Force Base». «Yemeni Armed Forces, carried out the largest offensive operation, named ‘the balance of the fourth deterrence’ that targeted the capital of the Saudi enemy, Riyadh, with a large number of ballistic missiles and drones,» he said. He added that “with the help and delivery of God, our Al Quds and Zulfiqar missiles and Samad drones have targeted military points in the Saudi enemy's capital, including the Ministry of Defense, Military Intelligence, Salman Air Force Base and military sites in Jizan and Najran.” The Houthi military spokesperson also vowed to “carry out more and stronger military operations until the siege is lifted, the aggression is stopped, and freedom and independence are achieved,» stressing the «legitimate and steadfast» right of the Yemeni armed forces to “defend” Yemen. The statement came shortly after the Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen announced it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by Houthi rebels toward the Saudi capital, on Tuesday. Violence in Yemen resumed after a six-week truce, introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, expired last month.
