Yemen: Former president Saleh calls for an end to Saudi intervention during mass rally

Former Yemeni President, Ali Abdullah Saleh, held a mass rally in Sanaa's Al-Sabean square, on Thursday, to mark the 35th anniversary of the founding of the General People's Congress party (GPC). During the rally, Saleh stated that «We are ready from now to fill our frontlines not only with thousands but with hundreds of thousands of fighters, hundreds of thousands of fighters who are now in... Еще their homes.» Saleh, who was previously ousted in 2012, during Arab Spring protests, to make way for President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, used the opportunity to call for an end to the Saudi-led coalition's war in Yemen. The rally comes amid rising tensions between the Houthi rebels and the former President, with the fomer reportedly blocking dozens of vehicles from heading to Sanaa to partake in the rally. Yemen is in the midst of a two-year long civil war, as the Saudi-led coalition fights on behalf of the internationally recognised government against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels.
