Aden residents were pleased with a peace deal signed between Yemen's Saudi-aligned government and forces supported by the United Arab Emirates, Wednesday. The deal struck on Tuesday, formally ended months of infighting between the two parts of the Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen's Houthi forces.
Aden resident Jamal Alqashbari called the agreement «an important step» and thanked Saudi Arabia... Еще and the UAE for their role in reaching it.
«We thank the Arab Alliance and Saudi Arabia for their efforts in signing the agreement,» echoed Alqashbari's words Mohammed Morsi, another resident of the southern port city.
«We are very pleased with this agreement,» said resident Abdul Malik Abdul Qawi. «We wish God to maintain security and stability, and officials, the president, and the deputies should agree and bring us to safety,» he added.
On Tuesday, Saudi state TV broadcasted the signing ceremony between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) with the presence of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
The deal reportedly foresees a new cabinet and will enable President Hadi to return to the Saudi-backed government's capital of Aden, which had gone under STC control in August. The deal will reportedly also result in STC forces being placed under government control.
