Wrestling in the name of the Father — Buff luchadores get masked up for religious pilgrimage

Mexican professional wrestlers, otherwise known as Luchadores, partook in a religious pilgrimage to the Basilica of the Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday in Mexico City and were met by screaming fans and chanting crowds. Infamous for their colourful and terrifying masks, Luchadores practice a form of wrestling developed in Mexico known as Lucha Libre or “Free fight” that is popular nation-wide... Еще. The Luchadores met fans in the National Auditorium of Mexico City, signing autographs before continuing to the Angel of Independence monument and eventually to the Basilica, where the sheer number of fans stopped the wrestlers from entering together. The Basilica of the Lady of Guadalupe is one of the world’s most visited Catholic pilgrimage site, and holds an important place in Mexican Catholic traditions.
