When the dead come a knockin': Cochabamba celebrates All Saints Day

Locals in Cochabamba celebrated All Saints Day on Thursday, ceremonially receiving the souls of those who have died in a ritual known as 'mast’aku'. Knowing the returning dead will be hungry and very thirsty after a year in the dry earth, family members prepare a shrine full of foods and drinks to be shared during the festivities. A character disguised as the deceased then enters the house and... Еще whips the people to make their sins go away. Once the character is expelled, it runs and loses itself in the surroundings until, in a place not visible to others, it strips off all the clothing which represented the deceased and buries them.
