The global coronavirus pandemic has turned San Cristobal Huichochitlan, in Toluca, known across Mexico for its production of caps and hats, into 'the town of the masks.»
Footage filmed on Thursday shows merchants who were forced to adapt to new demands in the wake of the health crisis.
«All this time it has been evolving due to everything related to COVID and everyone had to find a way to go ahead, that is when the mask initiative was born. In San Cristobal we usually did hats before,» said shop assistant Xochitl Janet Montes de Oca Hernández.
According to the Mexican Ministry of Health, the country registered 282,283 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 33,526 related deaths.
