Vintage cars fill Rome as second stage of 1000 Miglia race concludes

Dozens of participants in the 1000 Miglia race of vintage cars were filmed arriving in Rome on Thursday, where they concluded the second stage of the relay Brescia-Rome-Brescia. Hundreds of car enthusiasts were drawn onto the streets of the capital city, in its very centre, where the vehicles drove up on stage one by one, much to the delight of the spectators, who got a better look at them. «The... Еще magic is because the cars from this period are truly unique. They were built with heart, to amaze, to leave a mark,» said Gennaro Finetti, 1000 Miglia fan. «They were manufactured between the 30s and 50s. They were the most interesting cars on the European and world scene. Ferrari, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Mercedes, which competed in a historical race full of curves and small towns,» he added. On Friday, around dawn, the participants hit the road to start the third stage of the race, which will lead them to Bologna, where they'll lodge ahead of the fourth stage, which is the return to Brescia. The 1000 Miglia was established in 1927, and it is characterised as an open-road, motorsport endurance race. It took place 24 times before it was stopped in 1957. Since 1977, vintage car enthusiasts have revived the tradition, giving it more of a regularity rally characteristic, which features cars produced no later than 1957. The 2019 edition of the 1000 Miglia race is taking place from May 15 — 18, 2019.
