Venezuela's Supreme Court chief rebuffed the US government's threat to sanction his court's members if they did not reject President Nicolas Maduro.
Reading a statement to the court on Wednesday, Moreno denounced a «new unilateral threat» to the judicial branch in the form of the US.
The nationally broadcast TV appearance from Caracas also saw the Supreme Court head, a political ally of Maduro... Еще, push back at comments by US Vice President Mike Pence.
Describing Pence's tone as «vile and extortionate», the Moreno said the Vice President sought to place Venezuela's judiciary «at the service of the imperial interests of the White House's warmongering government.»
Pence announced on Tuesday the Trump administration would sanction all members of the court. At the same time, he said sanctions would be lifted on those who defected and instead backed opposition leader Juan Guaido.
