Venezuela: 'Hostile, disrespectful and abject' — Venezuelan FM slams Trump comments

The Venezuelan government denounced statements made by US President Donald Trump suggesting the possibility of US military intervention in Venezuela, Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said in a statement in Caracas, Saturday. «The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela strongly rejects the unfriendly and hostile statements of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, on 08/11/2017, in... Еще which he threatened military intervention against our homeland,» Arreaza stated. The Venezuelan Foreign Minister went on to say that threats of military intervention are «in violation of the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and the rules of international law, particularly as regards to the use or threat of use of force against the political independence of states». During a meeting with the diplomatic corps in Caracas, Arreaza warned that «Threatening our country, our people, our Latin America, our Caribbean, with a military intervention, is not only unprecedented and unusual, but deeply hostile, disrespectful, condemnable, abject.» On Friday, Trump said that he was «not going to rule out a military option» against Venezuela.
