European Union Special Advisor for Venezuela Enrique Iglesias met Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido at the headquarters of the National Assembly in Caracas on Tuesday.
Footage shows Iglesias posing for photos and walking with deputies of the National Assembly.
“As in all the spaces that we have approached looking for a solution to the crisis and the conflict that Venezuela is going... Еще through, [we look] to definitively end the suffering of all our people, to put an end to the tragedy that we are living in and walk towards the change and transformation of Venezuela,” Guaido told reporters. “You know what our agenda is, cessation of usurpation, transitional government and free elections.”
Venezuela is facing social and humanitarian crisis following a political clash since January 23, when Juan Guaido declared himself interim president in a move now recognised by over 50 countries and international bodies including the United States and the European Union.
Hundreds of thousands of protesters have taken to the streets leading to multiple clashes with police, while over four million Venezuelans have fled the country according to the UNHCR.
