Speaking at the protest, Pelosi criticised the proposed bill, which would repeal the Obama-era Affordable Care Act, as “the worst bill for women in the history of the Congress.”Pelosi also railed against a recent tweet from US President Donald Trump where he announced banning transgender people from the military due to high costs of their healthcare. She said, “The Defence Department spends 5 times more on Viagra than it does on transgender health needs?” Later on Wednesday, the Senate rejected the proposed bill. Seven Republicans were among those who voted against it, including Arizona Senator John McCain.Despite Wednesday’s negative vote, the bill is not yet defeated as further debate and voting is expected to still take place.
