US President Donald Trump set up a task force to deal with the coronavirus outbreak after a briefing at the White House on Wednesday evening.
Presidential adviser Kellyanne Conway said the administration was «monitoring» the situation at press conference from the briefing room on Thursday.
She then welcomed collaboration been the Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and... Еще Prevention (CDC) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIC) and said the government was also «very relieved and happy and heartened» that 201 Americans were repatriated from China, the source of the outbreak, on Wednesday.
Conway refused to take further questions, instead focussing on the opiod crisis.
Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brett Giroir provided some further detail on the response so ar. He emphasised that there was no need for «urgent panic».
In China alone, 7,711 people have been confirmed as having contracted the respiratory disease, which has already claimed the lives of 170 people.
