USA: Weinstein appears in court as prosecutors argue he broke bail conditions

Former film producer Harvey Weinstein attended a bail hearing at New York state's Supreme Court in New York City on Friday, as a prosecutor argued he had violated his release conditions and asked the judge to increase his bail from $1 million (€904,000) to $5 million (€4.5 million). Footage shows Weinstein entering and exiting the courthouse building. Prosecutors have accused Weinstein of... Еще mishandling his electronic ankle monitor, going unaccounted for for hours at a time. Weinstein's lawyer Donna Rotunno told reporters that the former film producer's ankle monitor «has never been off of his ankle. There's a separate device that he forgot, and the minute he realised he forgot it he made a phone call.» «This is tough,» Rotunno said. «This is tough on anybody. Going through this and dealing with the scrutiny not only in the courtroom but in the court of public opinion.» Rotunno added that Weinstein has been facing back issues. Another hearing to determine Weinstein's bail — remaining at $1 million (€904,000) for now — will continue on Wednesday. Weinstein has been charged with rape in the first and third degree, in cases involving two separate women, and is expected to go on trial on January 6 2020.
