US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated that Washington is still interested in dialogue with North Korea, at a press briefing in Washington DC, Tuesday.
Tillerson noted, «We continue to be interested in finding a way to get to a dialogue but that's up to him,» referring to DPRK leader Kim Jong-un.
Tensions between Washington and Pyongyang hit fever pitch last week, with US President Donald... Еще Trump threatening North Korean leader Kim Jong-un with «fire, fury and frankly, power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.» The DPRK in turn stated that they could potentially fire intermediate-range missiles near Guam by mid-August, but have since decided to delay the operation and see how the US responds.
On August 13, Tillerson and US Secretary of Defence Jim Mattis stated in a The Wall Street Journal op-ed that Washington «has no interest in regime change» in North Korea and that it favours a peaceful solution to the issue; however, noting that should diplomacy fail, the US would meet any use of nuclear weapons with an «overwhelming response.»
