USA: US urges Russia to withdraw forces from Abkhazia and South Ossetia

The regions are part of Georgia, they are not part of Russia,» states Nauert. «The United States urges Russia to withdraw its forces to the pre-invasion war positions, per the 2008 ceasefire agreement,» she added. Commenting on whether the US will support Georgia to become a member of NATO, Nauert stated that NATO made a decision on the matter during the 2008 Bucharest Summit, adding that «Georgia will become a member of NATO.»
