US President Donald Trump defended his decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord, calling it 'unfair and one-sided' during his recorded speech for the G20 summit, in Washington DC on Sunday.
«To protect American workers, I withdrew the United States from the unfair and one-sided Paris climate accord, a very unfair act for the United States,» he said.
«The Paris accord was not designed to save the environment. It was designed to kill the American economy. I refuse to surrender millions of American jobs and send trillions of American dollars to the world's worst polluters and environmental offenders, and that's what would have happened,» he added.
The US officially withdrew from the Paris Climate agreement on November 4, three years after the Trump administration announced its intention to pull out of the deal.
The Paris deal was drafted in 2015 to establish a global response to the threat of climate change.
