USA: Trump welcomes Emir of Qatar ahead of ‘large’ Boeing deal

US President Donald Trump welcomed the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the White House on Tuesday, ahead of the Emir signing a deal that will see Qatar purchase Boeing jets. President Trump lavished praise on the friendship between the two nations, calling the Emir a «highly respected man» and thanking Qatar for their investment in the US through the purchasing of military... Еще equipment and commercial planes. «They're investing very heavily in our country, they're creating a lot of jobs, they're buying a tremendous amount of military equipment, including planes and they're buying commercial planes,» he said. «We very much appreciate it.» Trump also commented on Labour Secretary Alex Acosta's handling of a past case against billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was recently charged with the sexual abuse of minors. Acosta's role in striking a plea bargain with the wealthy financier in a similar case a decade ago has come under fire as Epstein faces fresh charges. When questioned on whether he still had full confidence in Acosta, Trump responded that if anyone looked at their past decisions from decades ago, «I would think you'd probably find that they would wish they maybe did it a different way. I do hear that there were a lot of people involved in that decision not just him,» he said, adding that he could only judge Acosta's time as Secretary of Labour.
