USA: Trump touts progress on border wall amid government shutdown

President Donald Trump reiterated his rationale for building a wall along the border with Mexico, and boasted of his administration's progress during a cabinet meeting at the White House on Wednesday, 12 days into a government shutdown which currently has no end in sight. During the televised cabinet meeting, Trump repeated his argument that «You can't have border security without the wall,» and... Еще went on to describe the progress his administration is reportedly making on the wall, including new contracts for 115 miles of wall. Meanwhile, no progress appears to have been made towards ending the US government shutdown in Trump's meetings with lawmakers. The president has repeatedly said he would not sign a funding bill that does not include US$5 billion (€4.4 billion) in funding for the border wall — a figure Democrats in control of the House of Representatives have refused to consider.
