US President Donald Trump took aim at the «unhinged left-wing mob,» which he accused of vandalising monuments, in Tulsa on Saturday, at his first campaign rally since the coronavirus outbreak began.
«The unhinged left wing mob is trying to vandalise our history, desecrate our monuments, our beautiful monuments. Tear down our statues and punish, cancel and persecute anyone who does not conform to their demands for absolute and total control,» he said, to a jubilant crowd of supporters.
The US president also called those who are calling for the police to be defunded «stone-cold crazy.»
Trump added that burning the US flag should be punishable with up to a one-year jail sentence.
The rally was held in front of a much smaller crowd than the president was expecting. The Trump campaign team had been boasting that almost one million people had applied for tickets for the MAGA rally. However, the 19,000-seat arena was nowhere near full amid concerns about public mass gatherings in an indoor arena due to the pandemic.
