US President Donald Trump awarded conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his State of the Union speech at the Capitol in Washington DC, on Wednesday.
«Here tonight is a special man, beloved by millions of Americans, who just received a Stage 4 advanced cancer diagnosis,» said Trump, before thanking Limbaugh for «decades of tireless devotion» to the US.
«In... Еще recognition of all that you have done for our nation, the millions of people a day that you speak to and that you inspire, and all of the incredible work that you have done for charity, I am proud to announce tonight that you will be receiving our country's highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom,» he continued.
Limbaugh appeared surprised at the announcement.
First Lady Melania Trump presented him the medal, as Republican lawmakers gave a standing ovation.
The host of 'The Rush Limbaugh Show' is a long-term Trump supporter and controversial character, as he is reported to have made statements that some consider racist or sexist.
