USA: Trump says no 'Libyan model' in N. Korea if deal made

Donald Trump, President of the United States: «You give me credit for that?» Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General: «You have helped to do that because your leadership has been important and it has had a real impact, and we see that because all allies increase, they add billions to their budget.» US President Donald Trump stated that the ‘Libyan model’ has nothing to do with the US... Еще’ approach to North Korea and that DPRK leader Kim Jong-Un could become “very, very happy” if he agrees to a deal, speaking from a press conference alongside NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Washington DC on Thursday. Trump affirmed that the US' approach to North Korea differs greatly from the past Libyan path. «If we make a deal, I think Kim Jong Un is going to be very very happy, I really believe he's going to be very happy», the US president said. He then countered himself however, by adding that if a deal was not reached then Kim may face a similar end to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. “If you look at that model with Gaddafi, that was a total decimation, we went there to beat him. Now, that model would take place if we don't make a deal, most likely”, he said. Stoltenberg joined the briefing, where he took the opportunity to praise the US president's efforts to encourage international spending on security. «Thank you for the leadership you show on the issue of defence spending, because it's very important that we all contribute more to our shared security, and it is having an impact because as you said, allies are spending more in defence», he said.
