USA: Trump says he 'shouldn't be' impeached

US President Donald Trump stated that he «shouldn't be» impeached, speaking during a press conference in Washington DC on Friday, before slamming the press for not being «honest.» Trump also responded to witness tampering accusations, referring to a tweet in which he attacked former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch who testified on Capitol Hill during impeachment hearings. «Tampering is... Еще when a guy like 'Shifty Schiff' (Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, US House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence chairman), doesn't let us have lawyers. Tampering is when Schiff doesn't let us have witnesses, doesn't let us speak,» he replied. «Nobody has ever had such a horrible due process, there was no due process, and I think it's considered a joke all over Washington and all over the world. The Republicans are given no due process or whatsoever, we're not allowed to do anything, it's a disgrace what's happening,» he added. Yovanovitch served as the US's ambassador to Ukraine until she was abruptly removed from her post in May. Open hearings of the impeachment inquiry against Trump are scheduled to continue next week with several other witnesses. The president is alleged to have asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to find damaging information on the business dealings of Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, during the call. Hunter Biden was on the board of a Ukrainian gas company between 2014 and 2019.
