US President Donald Trump reiterated his claims there was more than meets the eye in the immigration and security deal struck with Mexico on Friday after Mexican officials denied Trump's twitter claims he had secured what the US «had been asking for years.» The remarks came as the US President welcomed Indianapolis 500 winner Simon Pagenaud and his team to the White House in Washington, D.C on... Еще Monday.
«We have an agreement on something that they will announce very soon,” said Trump as he said the Mexican side was working to secure the approval of its legislative body.
«If they don't get approval, we'll have to think in terms of tariffs,» said Trump, once again renewing his tariff threats on Mexican goods.
The remarks came after Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard denied the US and Mexico had agreed on further details than those made public in the Friday deal.
«I do not think they will be denying it very long. It is all done,» said Trump answering a reporter over the Mexican side's denial.
On Friday, Trump and Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador reached a deal that would reportedly see the US not impose tariffs, which were due to take effect on Monday, in exchange for Mexico's strengthening enforcement at its border with Guatemala and expanding its policy of taking back migrants.
