You just take a look at his written document, go back, take a look at what he wrote I think in January, he has a written statement and that's the fact.» US President Donald Trump accused his former lawyer Michael Cohen of lying to federal prosecutors about a proposed real estate deal in Moscow to get a lesser sentence for two guilty pleas, while speaking to journalists in Washington DC on Thursday. «What he's trying to do, because he's a weak person and not a very smart person, what he's trying to do is end, and it's very simple, he's got himself a big prison sentence, and he's trying to get himself a much lesser prison sentence by making up the story,» Trump said in relation to Cohen, who had pleaded guilty in a New York City federal court about an hour before of lying to Congress about details of a Trump Tower project in Moscow. In August, Cohen pleaded guilty to eight criminal counts, including campaign finance violations, bank fraud and tax evasion.
