Two prison guards accused of failing to check on convicted paedophile and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein before his death in a prison cell, and then covering it up, have been given a court date in April 2020 in New York City.
Both defendants have pleaded not guilty after they failed to carry out checks on Epstein the night before he was found dead and falsely recorded that they had.
Footage... Еще shows Tova Noel, 31, and Michael Thomas, 41, arriving at the court before leaving. Montell Figgins, the lawyer for Michael Thomas expects his client will be «suspended without pay. But it does not mean that he is terminated at this time.» He also expressed that his client was being scapegoated as he «should not be the one who is charged here in this case.»
The other defendant, Noel, was charged with five counts of falsifying records, while Thomas was charged with three counts. Both defendants were also charged with conspiracy.
Epstein had been taken off suicide watch shortly before his death after pleading not guilty to trafficking several underage girls between 2002 and 2005.
