USA: Thousands take to Washington streets to march for racial justice

Thousands of people took to the streets of Washington DC on Saturday as part of two marches aimed at highlighting racial injustices. The March for Racial Justice and March for Black Women gathered at Lincoln Park in the Capitol Hill neighbourhood before proceeding together to the Justice Department and the national Mall. “"We have really witnessed a resurgence in terms of a public arena of the... Еще white supremacy and racism, that has been protected and comforted by this administration, and by all the other folks that are engaged or supporting this administration,” Raylar Scott, a reverend, said. The marches come in the wake of US President Trump’s criticism of black NFL players who kneel in protest of police brutality, as well as his reluctance to condemn neo-Nazi attacks in Charlottesville in August.
