USA: Thousands of anti-racists demand removal of Confederate memorial in Dallas

Several thousand anti-fascist and anti-racist demonstrators gathered in front of the Dallas City Hall, Texas, on Saturday calling to remove Confederate statues from the city with many participants decrying 'white supremacy' and the US President Donald Trump. A large amount of police officers were dispatched to the site for the largely peaceful protest. Demonstrators moved to Pioneer Park, where... Еще the Confederate War Memorial is located, holding signs reading: 'Impeach Trump' and 'Fascism will never win', among others. Last Saturday, self-proclaimed neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and white nationalist groups, among others, gathered as part of a 'Unite the Right' rally in the centre of Charlottesville. Violence quickly broke out when counter-protesters blocked the group's march, with police going on to disperse the rival rallies after proclaiming a state of emergency. One person, 32-year-old Heather Heyer, was later killed, with 19 others injured, when a car, driven by a participant in the 'Unite the Right' rally, ploughed into the counter-protesters.
