USA: Some New Yorkers consider deleting their FB accounts after data-breach scandal

New Yorkers reacted on Monday to a data breach scandal involving Facebook and the data firm Cambridge Analytica, which allegedly mined the personal data of 50 million users to help Donald Trump to win the US 2016 presidential election. «I just was reading in the news today how they were giving out information without telling anyone, which is obviously a problem,» one person said. Another... Еще commented: «I noticed that Facebook does push their political agenda and I am concerned. I think that Facebook should be a more of a family and friend oriented social media platform. Seeing that they do push their political agendas, I have considered deleting my Facebook account quite a few times.» According to reports, data mining company Cambridge Analytica developed a system that could analyse personal information of Facebook users in the US and influence their behaviour by targeting them with personalised political advertisements. Although the allegations of data breach were denied by Facebook, the scandal has already resulted ina 6,8% fall in the shares of the world's largest social network.
