USA: Russians vote in San Francisco church after consulate closure

Russian nationals residing in California cast their early votes in San Francisco, Sunday, ahead of the Russian presidential election on March 18. This year, the polling station was set up at the Christian Orthodox Holy Virgin Cathedral, following the closure of the Russian consulate in San Francisco last year. Head of the Electoral Commission Halit Aisin said, «We organised an off-site early... Еще vote in order to provide people, first of all, the elderly and those who cannot travel to Seattle, with the opportunity to cast their ballots.» One Russian voter noted that «it's very inconvenient that they closed the consulate here, so we have to come here to the church hall to vote. But it's really good that we had this opportunity to, you know, [cast] our votes here.» The Russian presidential election is scheduled to take place on March 18.
