USA: Russia 'does not care' about stopping chemical weapons — White House on Russian UN veto
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee condemned Russia for vetoing a UN Security Council resolution on chemical weapons, during a press conference in Washington DC on Tuesday.
«Blocking the extension of the investigating authority means nothing less than Russia's endorsement of the Assad regime... Еще's use of chemical weapons against innocent women and children,» said Huckabee. She went on to say that the US «will continue to push back against this.»
Russia yesterday vetoed a resolution to extend the official mission to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
Commenting on Senator Bob Corker's and Senator Jeff Flake's refusal to back Trump's new tax cuts, Huckabee said that «their loyalty should be to the American people and to the agenda that those people elected them to carry out.»
She added that the American people care about «the big policy initiatives that this President is driving,» and not «some petty comments from Senator Corker and Senator Flake».
Senators, Bob Corker and Jeff Flake have announced that they will not be seeking re-election in the Senate as their rift with President Trump over tax reforms grows bigger.
President Trump has demanded Republicans on Tuesday to pass a package of tax cuts by the end of the year.
