USA: Roll with it — beating the coronavirus toilet roll shortage with bidets

Bidet toilet attachments and spray sales have been booming in the United States, according to a San Francisco based bidet supplier on Wednesday, as concerned shoppers have been emptying toilet roll supplies amid the coronavirus outbreak. Steven Scheer, CEO of Brondell, a bidet supplier, has seen a 300 or 400 percent increase. «At this point, we've seen up to a 10 times increase in sales, and we... Еще're just trying to keep up with that demand,» he added. Scheer said he started the business 16 years ago, but this week was selling a bidet «every minute throughout the course of this week,» as shoppers began stock piling toilet rolls and other hygiene accessories. «It's more healthy, it's more hygienic, it's better for the environment,» Scheer insisted as he showcased several bidets and attachments, which sell between $60 (€55) and several hundred dollars. According to the latest reports by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), at least 198,000 people have been infected by the COVID-19 worldwide and over 7,750 people have died. There have currently been 6,496 cases confirmed in the USA.
