USA: Rival protesters scuffle in New Haven as Christopher Columbus statue removed

Scuffles broke out between rival groups of protesters in New Haven, Connecticut as the city removed a statue of Christopher Columbus on Wednesday. Hundreds of people arrived at the park to cheer in support of the sculpture's removal before police cordoned off the area surrounding the monument. Many statues of historical figures linked to slavery and colonialism have been removed by activists in the wake of worldwide protests against racism and police brutality.
