Hundreds of people gathered in front of North Central University in Minneapolis on Thursday, where the memorial service for George Floyd, the African American whose killing on May 25 sparked a wave of protests in the US and in the world, was held.
Rapper Percy Robert Miller, known as Master P, was also seen among those, attending the service.
«Nobody should lose their life like George Floyd lost his life. On the ground, with this knee on his neck,» he said.
The memorial comes after days of non-stop protesting in Minneapolis and elsewhere, leading to curfews in many US cities.
George Floyd's death on May 25 has sparked a wave of protests throughout the US, with violence and looting in some areas, and around the world. He died in Minneapolis after a police officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes as he was recorded saying, «I can't breathe» and «Don't kill me.»
Four officers involved in the incident have since been fired and charged, one with second-degree murder and three others with aiding him.
