Confusion shrouded the most recent shooting inside of Seattle's 'Occupied Protest' early on Monday morning, with protesters at the scene speculating that the shooting was «coordinated.»
Those present during the shooting, which killed one and injured at least one other, believe some concerted attempt was made to disorient residents through the use of fireworks.
«Pops just started happening from all these different directions, from over here from down there from over there. Like a coordinated thing. And at the same time, fireworks going off. So it was hard for people to distinguish what was a gunshot and what was a firework,» said one anonymous protester.
Police were later seen patrolling the area near the occupied zone.
Multiple shootings have occurred inside of the zone in recent days, and the mayor of Seattle, Jenny Durkan, has stated that police will gradually begin taking over the Capitol Hill neighbourhood's vacant East Precinct building.
