USA: Protesters march to Seattle Mayor Durkan’s house, decry racism and police brutality

'Black Lives Matter' activists rallied in Seattle on Sunday to decry racism and police brutality, as well as to pay tribute to Charleena Lyles, a black woman killed by Seattle police in 2017. Protesters were seen marching with banners through Warren G. Magnuson Park to Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan's house. «Our families' demands and demands of Charleena Lyles' families are defunding the police by 50 percent and reinvest it into black communities and communities of colour,» Katrina Johnson, cousin of killed Charleena Lyles, said. She added, «I'm asking for the lawsuits at the police officer who killed my cousin. I'm asking for the lawsuits to be dropped so that the inquiry process can go forward.» The 30-year-old Charleena Lyles, who was pregnant at that time, was shot by two police officers on June 18, 2017, after she called 911 to report a burglary at her apartment.
