Some 200 protesters held a rally against outside the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis on Sunday to protest against the city mandate on wearing masks.
Several speakers addressed participants who held signs reading: «Will not comply,» «What about, 'my body, my choice'?» and «Mask mandates violate religious freedom.»
The decision to make face masks mandatory came after an increase in cases in states neighbouring Indiana even though cases have reportedly been declining in Marion county, where Indianpolis is located.
As of last week, the state of Indiana has reported a total of 48,626 coronavirus cases and 2,524 deaths with the virus. According to the Marion County Public Health Department, 11,723 of those cases and 689 of deaths have been in Marion County.
