USA: Pro-Trump 'Capital Beltway Caravan' departs McLean

Dozens of US President Donald Trump supporters gathered in McLean, Virginia, on Sunday, where they grouped up and hoisted pro-Trump and US flags onto their cars before heading onto the I-495 Capital Beltway in a show of support for the president ahead of the presidential election. Trump supporters could be seen donning various Americana on their vehicles and themselves, and several caricatures of Donald Trump could also be seen on flags and hanging off of vehicles. One of the participants, Al Thomas, explained that he thought it was important that Trump wins the election «to preserve our constitution and keep going what we had going before the COVID virus hurt us.» Another caravan participant urged the support for Trump because «he is going to fight for the democracy in this country because we need to get these socialists out of this country,» to the cheers of those in attendance. The caravan was joined by other groups assembling around the Capital Beltway, with participants joining from Fredricksburg, Gainesville, Springfield, Bethesda, and other locations. Several hundred were expected to have taken part in total.
