USA: Pompeo still searching for 'common ground' with N Korea

Еще prepared to do.» *MULTIPLE SHOTS AT SOURCE* New US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo publicised details about negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, at a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing in Washington D.C. on Wednesday. Pompeo spoke of a «candid» exchange of views between the parties, which left, «lots of work to do to find common ground.» «Our demands have been unambiguous. When I spoke with him, I could not have been clearer about the scope of the [denuclearisation] verification work,» explained the US secretary of state. «In return [North Korea] would receive economic help from America […] and that he wanted security assurances from the world,» he added. In other questions, Pompeo demanded a form of «deterrence» against Russian influence, calling on European and global partners to do more. After Venezuela declared two US diplomats persona non grata, the US secretary of state promised to respond «reciprocally» and «proportionately».
