USA: Police chief calls on media to 'respect' El Paso shooting victims' families

El Paso Police Department Chief Greg Allen urged the media not to disturb the families of the shopping mall shooting victims, speaking at a press conference in El Paso on Sunday. «I'd like to ask the media to be respectful of the families right now. We've been getting complaints that the media had been overburdening them with questions when they are actually more concerned about finding out their... Еще loved ones,» said Allen. «So, we ask you respectfully to abide by their wishes. With that being said, we're looking at all responders and everyone who's been on the ground participating in this event, or providing them references to alleviate their suffering,» added Allen. On Saturday, 20 people were killed and more than two dozen injured, after a gunman opened fire at a Walmart store inside the Cielo Vista Mall, the largest shopping centre in El Paso, Texas. A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested and named by police as Dallas-resident Patrick Crusius. In the early hours on Sunday morning, only hours after Saturday's shooting in El Paso, another mass shooting occurred where a gunman opened fire near the entrance of a bar in downtown Dayton, Ohio, leaving 10 killed and 27 others injured. The gunman was killed by police within a minute of the shots being fired, and was identified as 24-year-old Connor Betts.
