Around 100 protesters marched in New York City on Thursday to protest in favour of stricter gun legislation following the deadly Florida school shooting. The protesters gathered outside LaGuardia High School on 100 Amsterdam Avenue where activists gave speeches, before marching through the city holding banners and demanding better gun control. The protest was organised by the group 'Gays... Еще Against Guns', an LGBT organisation calling for stricter gun laws. The group was formed a year ago, immediately after the Orlando Pulse night club shooting. In a speech made on Thursday morning, US President Donald Trump made no mention of guns but rather announced he would work with state and local leaders to tackle «the difficult issue of mental health». A 19-year-old teenager killed 17 people at a Florida high school on Wednesday. Police arrested him two hours later and identified him as Nikolas Cruz. He was a former student expelled for disciplinary reasons, who allegedly opened fire with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle while wearing a gas mask.
