US Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris met on the vice-presidential debate stage, separated by two plexiglass panes at Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday night, for a 2020 presidential election VP debate.
During the debate, the two candidates went toe to toe on issues including Supreme Court nominations and healthcare strategies.
On healthcare, Pence said “Obamacare was a disaster, and the American people remember it well. And President Trump and I have a plan to improve healthcare and protect preexisting conditions for every American.»
Harris for her part said “if you have a preexisting condition, heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, they’re coming for you. If you love someone who has a pre-existing condition [crosstalk], they’re coming for you. If you are under the age of 26 on your parents’ coverage, they’re coming for you.»
Several times the Democratic senator voiced her discontent at being interrupted by Pence, at one point intoning “Mr vice president, I’m speaking, I’m speaking.”
