What is said to be «the most important Aston Martin of all time», the 1956 DBR1 model, was showcased to the public at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event in Monterey, California, on Friday, ahead of its auction on Saturday. The car, also considered «the pinnacle of all Aston Martins» by a RM Sotheby's specialist, is estimated to receive bids in excess of $20 million dollars (€17 million... The presented model boasts of an «impeccable race history,» winning contests such as the Nurburgring 1000 kilometre and Le Mans, «which is the most famous endurance race of all time,» added the auctioneer. Only five examples were built by the factory, with the first one being assembled between 1956 and 1958. The DBR1 won the Most Elegant Sports Car Trophy award at the 2001 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
