Miami Heat fans celebrated on Sunday night as their team beat the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals and will advance to the NBA finals to take on the Los Angeles Lakers.
The ecstatic fans took to the streets in downtown Miami in front of the American Airlines Arena, where the Heat play their home games, banging pans, honking their horns and dancing in support of the team. Police officers were also at the scene to disperse the crowds as Miami Dade County currently operates under an 11.00 PM curfew amid COVID-19 preventive measures.
Miami Heat were underdogs coming into the playoffs, seeded fifth in their conference, but managed to take on the Boston Celtics after leading four games to two in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Miami will face heavy favourites Los Angeles Lakers after superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davies' victory over the Denver Nuggets with a three games to one victory. The first game of the NBA finals will be played on Wednesday at 09.00 PM local time (02.00 GMT).
