USA: Los Angeles blaze spread 'to over 5,000 acres' — LAFD

Some 500 firefighters continued to battle against what has been described as Los Angeles' largest ever fire, according to the LA Fire Department (LAFD), Saturday, as Scientology volunteers collected donations at the Hansen Dam park command centre. The La Tuna fire broke out in Burbank on Friday afternoon and has spread to over 5,000 acres. According to LAFD Public Information Officer David... Еще Ortiz, the fire currently fluctuates between 10 percent and 0 percent containment, due to, «triple digit temperatures along with very low humidity,» as well as constantly changing winds which make the fire's direction hard to predict. Residents from the local community have been donating water and food to the Hansen Dam park command centre, where volunteers from the Scientology volunteer ministers collected them. Scientology volunteer Betsy said, «we've been here since last night bringing in donations of water and Gatorade.» «We’re here to support the emergency workers, the firemen, anything they need so they can keep doing their jobs and saving the homes out there so they don’t get burned,» she said.
