LA Lakers star LeBron James said that he wishes that his team's fans were able to witness them qualify for the 2020 NBA Playoffs finals, because they deserved it. James was speaking during a post-match press conference in Orlando, on Saturday, after his team triumphed against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference finals.
«The one thing I can say is that I wish we were in the Staples Centre tonight with our fans, with our Laker-faithful. Because they deserved this just as much as we do, because they went through the last so many years of not being in a post-season run, feeling like their franchise would never get back to this moment, but they continued to stay faithful and, you know, it would have been great to celebrate with them tonight,» said James.
LA Lakers Head Coach Frank Vogel praised the Denver Nuggets for putting on a fight and giving the Lakers all that they can handle.
«Congratulations to the Denver Nuggets on a heck of a post-season run. They gave us all that they could handle. So much respect for [Jamal] Murray and [Nikola] Jokic, and all of their players, coach [Michael] Malone, and you know, all of their program. They're just so tied together and connected, and like I said, they gave us all that we could handle,» said Vogel.
Lakers' player Anthony Davis stressed the importance of his on-court chemistry with James, saying that they don't let each other down because that would result in letting the entire franchise down.
Another player for the Lakers, Alex Caruso, reflected back on his journey thus far, as he is set to have his first appearance in an NBA Playoffs final.
«It's been a hell of a journey this year for this team, and then me individually, the journey I've been on my whole life, just kind of getting to this point, really cool. I don't know how to state it other than that, man,» said Caruso.
