US President Donald Trump announced the current deputy White House Chief of Staff Kirstjen Nielsen as his nomination for Secretary of Homeland Security in Washington, DC on Thursday. The position has been vacant since the former DHS chief John F. Kelly left to take on his role in July. «There will be no on-the-job training for Kirstjen. She is ready on day one,» said Trump following the... Еще nomination. In her remarks, Nielsen noted that if confirmed in her new role, she hopes to «live up to the standards the American people expect and deserve.» Apart from being a longtime aide to Kelly, Nielsen previously led the Transportation Security Administration's Office of Legislative Policy under President George W. Bush.
