USA: Judge's son slain, husband in critical condition after home attack

The husband and son of US District Court Judge Esther Salas were shot in their North Brunswick home on Sunday after a gunman dressed as a Federal Express delivery driver showed up at their residence. Authorities have confirmed that the 20-year-old son of Salas, Daniel Anderl, was killed in the attack and that her husband, Mark Anderl, is in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery. Judge Salas was unharmed in the incident, the suspect remains at large and an investigation has been launched by the FBI. Esther Salas, a 51-year-old United States District Judge for New Jersey, previously served as a Magistrate Judge from 2006 to 2011, becoming the first Hispanic to serve as a judge in New Jersey.
